Home Renovations and Extensions

Home Renovations and Extensions by Mark Davis

We specialise in designing home renovations and extensions that improve the way you live — adding space, functionality, comfort and long-term value to your existing home. Whether you’re making room for a growing family, opening up your living spaces, or updating a tired layout, we’re here to guide you through a well-considered and efficient design process.

Our focus is on creating homes that are not only beautiful and practical but also comfortable and mould free, at the same time as being energy efficient. Every renovation or extension is an opportunity to improve the performance of your home — whether that’s through better insulation, passive solar design, improved glazing, or smart space planning that maximises natural light and airflow.

We aim to make your home more comfortable year-round while reducing energy use and ongoing costs.  We can even try to make your new home a Passive House.

We start by understanding your needs

Home renovations and extensions

Designing home renovations and extensions is about more than just adding square metres. It’s about transforming how your home works for you. We start by understanding your needs, analysing the existing structure, and identifying the best ways to enhance what you already have. Where you would like, we respect the original character of your home whilst integrating modern, energy-conscious solutions that improve liveability and long-term performance. Alternatively, if you want to change the entire style this is the direction we will take.

Our process includes

1. Design Brief

Using our unique design brief questionnaire we learn about you, your wants and your needs, and how you want your home to function. This guides us throughout the project

3. Concept Designs

We develop initial ideas and spatial layouts to explore how the home could look, function, and feel. This is where the vision begins to take shape.

5. Development Application (DA)

We prepare all necessary drawings and reports for Council approval and coordinate any additional consultants required at this stage

2. Site Analysis / Feasibility Study

We begin by assessing your site, its context, climate, opportunities and constraints. This helps us understand what’s possible and how to achieve the best outcomes.

4. Design Development

Once a concept is chosen, we refine the design in more detail—considering materials, energy efficiency strategies, and your feedback to ensure every element works together.

6. Construction Certificate (CC)

We finalise the technical documentation and collaborate with engineers, certifiers, and consultants to get your project ready for construction.

Whether you’re planning a second-storey addition, a new living zone, kitchen reconfiguration or full-scale upgrade, we tailor each design to your site, budget, and lifestyle.

With extensive experience in home renovations, we understand the challenges that come with modifying existing homes — from tricky access and structural quirks to heritage overlays, environmental and climate considerations. We factor these in from the start, designing with care and foresight to help avoid surprises down the track

We also take the stress out of coordinating your project by working closely with the consultants and professionals you’ll need — including engineers, certifiers, energy assessors and builders. Throughout the process, we’re here to guide you, answer your questions, and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
